What a day!
I got to school and basically it was smooth sailing all day. I now have all of Thursday (my first day) planned and have a pretty good idea of what I am going to do on Friday. Right now, I'm not going to worry about next week. I can do that this weekend. My principal also brought in some smoked fish for me to try. Her brother caught it and his wife smoked it. It was pretty amazing. I even ate some of the skin, which is the way the traditional Yu'pik Native Americans eat/ate theirs. I learned a few words today, too. Quyana- Thank You. Um... Well, that's all I can remember right now. But, I am counting on the kids to help me. I really want to get as much out of this as possible. I want to do some hunting, fishing, etc. I've also got some good leads on basketball so I can start throwing down at open gym... which shouldn't be a problem being most of the people are quite a bit shorter than me.
