Welcome back I guess, I took a night off due to be unbelievably busy trying to figure out what to do with my spring break. It's at the beginning of March and I get a free flight to Anchorage from the school. I'm thinking I'll find a few things to do. I also was invited to go to a bilingual conference (I'm guessing I was invited due to the fact that I am in fact completely un-bilingual. unalinguala if you would.) So I have two trips to Anchorage coming up within five weeks of each other. I'm thinking for the first one I will fly in a few days early, do some skiing and see what kind of trouble I can get in to.
The first two days went good. I'm not going to divulge too much on the blog, but I really enjoy the students and have met a number of parents that are great and the other teachers are very supportive.
I read three newspaper articles on startribune.com today that caught my eye. The first was the fact that they now believe the young men that were pummeled by the tiger in San Fran were actually taunting the tiger in the cage. Just out of curiosity, I wonder how many people read that article and thought they deserved it. Not saying I necessarily do, t'was just a thought....
The second was a story about twins separated at birth. They didn't know each other existed, but ended up meeting, falling in love, and ultimately got married. Kinda creepy at first, but then I thought what an amazing story that says so much about the human soul. The two souls were always searching for the other one to make them whole again, and, I'm guessing, once they met they knew they had an amazing connection. And also, how these two, which were once actually one, actually became that one again through the sanctity of marriage. I don't know, maybe I'm just getting a little sappy up here in Dudeville, but I thought that was a pretty amazing story.
Headline of the last one "Snow falls in Baghdad for the first time in memory." Now I'm just trying to clarify previous headlines from the last eight years- Americans are evil and causing global warming right?? Ok, keep telling me that as I walk around in -25 every day.
I went to the ball games tonight. Walked in and the JV team was up 44-9 midway through the third. After letting down their guard for the rest of the quarter they decided to play again. The went on a 20-3 run through the fourth quarter, the opponents three points coming off a two-handed-behind-the-neck banked in lob. I'm pretty sure the JV could have beaten any team from my hometown any of the last eight years. It's just a shame that in a place like this there could be five no look behind the passes that no scouts will ever see.
That's all. Hopefully it will be an exciting weekend. If not, I probably won't say anything on this for a few days.
